Project Water Gives Life 2025
According to the Sciencedirect.com - August 2025, the Philippines suffers from severe water pollution, with nearly 6000 premature deaths annually due to waterborne diseases. About 11 million Filipino families have no access to clean water, with 53,066 mortalities reported between 2010 and 2019 because of waterborne diseases of typhoid and paratyphoid fever, bloody diarrhoea, cholera, viral hepatitis, and leptospirosis (Flores, 2023).
As such, as its first official project in the Philippines, ROC's goal is to provide water filtration systems to the 100 households (600 residents) of the impoverished and vulnerable Sitio Lagundi, a small village found on the outskirt of the City of Rodriguez, Rizal, Philippines, a community without readily access to potable water.
On 28 February 2025, ROC conducted an initial community water access assessment of Sitio Lagundi to develop a collaborative solution involving both the Local Government Unit (LGU) and residents of Sitio Lagundi.
In the following months, based on the data collected with the assistance of its international partner called Waves For Water (wavesforwater.org), ROC established the scope of its Project Water Gives Life 2025, dividing Sitio Lagundi into 20 individual clusters, each composed of five households.
On 18 October 2025, ROC plans to distribute 20 Sawyer water filters (one per cluster) and 100 5-gallon water containers (one per household) to support the potable water needs of the 600 residents.
Each cluster costs P4,000 (PHP)/$100 (CAD), which is the cost of a Sawyer water purification filter, plus 5 water containers.
This is not a luxury for these residents, but rather a necessity. Be The Transformation and donate today! Help the 600 Sitio Lagundi residents have readily accessible potable water, and prevent waterborne diseases among this impoverished and vulnerable community.
